Work Permit

What You Should Do

1. Obtaining Information on The Location of Our Pipelines

To obtain information on the exact location of our pipelines, it is advisable that you submit a request for information at any of our offices nationwide (at least four working days in advance). All written requests should detail the work plan and exact location of work.

2. Obtaining a Work Permit

In the event that a pipeline is located within the vicinity of the intended area of work, you would be required to apply for a work permit.

3. When To Commence Work

Under the Gas Supply Act 1993, work can only commence once the contractors have obtained an official approval from Gas Malaysia.

In the event that a pipeline is located within the vicinity of the intended area of work, the contactor would be required to apply for a work permit. However, if there are no pipelines within the vicinity, Gas Malaysia shall reply to the requesting party accordingly, permitting the commencement of work immediately.

For areas within the vicinity of our pipelines, Gas Malaysia requires one of its representatives to be present on-site during the commencement of work.

4. Ensure Safe Working Environment

Please ensure the following safety measures are observed when carrying out activities within the vicinity of our pipelines:

  • Do NOT allow any heavy machinery to bypass on or near the underground pipeline route.
  • Do NOT litter near the gas pipeline facilities.
  • Do NOT allow open burning near the gas pipeline facilities.
